Hello to our faithful fans,
It's been a few days since Iupdated our blog so now I will give it a try.
On Sunday we did meet the family from EABJM. They are all so nice and helpful. We came home with lots of brochures she had collected about living in Paris. Some funny ones have to do with using the washing machine and dryer. As I mentioned before it's a challenge. Joe and I may have figured it out!!!! It still takes 4 hours to wash one sheet but it's dry!!!!!
Anyway, the school EABJM begins it's activities Aug 28 at it's annual picnic. It's sponsored by the Parent in Adaptation program so it's parents and kids meeting for the first time. This PIA sponsors lots of activities thru the year. I am looking forward to getting involved with them.
I know Abby is anxious about school and it's challenges. I am told the first month is the worse then the kids understand the school's expectations.
Meanwhile on Monday we started intensive french lessons at Accord Ecole. The classes are pretty good and I feel like I have learned alot so far. They do alot of conversation even at my level which level 1. I have met a woman from Charlotte who is here on vacation and taking french with her son.
Also on Monday Abby was invited to go swim with her "pen pal" from eabjm. The french turn the Seine into a beach for the month of August. They have a pool with hours per age group. So abby and her friend swam from 1 to 3 on Monday. This is a great scene. They pour sand along the banks of the Seine close to Hotel de Ville. They also put out lawn chairs and bean bag chairs for people to just hang out. Along the walkway there are cafe's so it's really a great scene and very relaxing. We decided that if american's did this the chairs would be stolen overnite.
Today we met at a cafe with another couple from CWRU who have been here on sabbatical and are returning next week. They gave us even more info especially about where to shop!!!!!
So I think it's safe to say we are learning our way around. Our next adventure will be a trip to Normandy before School begins.
Meanwhile best to all,
Sydelle
